Please put down the jug of cool-aid. All these "deals" are from the mouths of foreign leaders to Trump's ear. Show me the signed documents making all of these "word of mouth" agreements concrete. You can't.

Japan and Europe have already said the half trillion or more in "investments" being touted, are actually more like LOANS and loan guarantees that would be accretive to Japanese and European coffers. Their time frames stretching well past the end of Trumps term... meaning never.

As far as your assertion that the choice is between the U.S. and any other individual country, you've framed the game incorrectly. Trump has made the choice: the USA or THE REST OF THE WORLD combined. He's created animosity with virtually every country on the planet. His assertion that the United States, the richest country on the planet, is somehow a victim of the entire worlds deceitful malice, is not only preposterous, but highly insulting. If you think this is the way to make friends and influence people, good luck with that!

As for his assertion that his tarrifs are "BRINGING IN" trillions of dollars to the U.S., you have to ask "From where?". A tarrif is a tax on the U.S. IMPORTER, ie: American companies, and ultimately the American consumer. He's not "bringing in" anything... he's picking American's pockets. Tarrifs are the most regressive of taxes. Rather than taxing Americans in a progressive way, based on their relative wealth and ability to pay (ie: income tax), he's chosen to tax the entire population regardless of their financial standing. The poor and working, middle class Americans are hurt the hardest! Elon Musk won't care if his shoes cost 30 percent more because of tarrifs, but the 60% of Americans living paycheck to paycheck, certainly will. Tarrifs are like inflation... an INDISCRIMINATE financial burden that hurts everybody equally, particularly those least able to pay.

The current administration is accelerating the decline of American power and influence around the world on so many fronts, it's mind-boggling.

Brent, how long did the transition take from GBP being the reserve currency to the USD, being the reserve currency, decades?. You are now measuring the US influence not changing over a period of 8 months.
